St. Peter's believes . . .

Children are gifts from God. They bring their own spiritual gifts and perspectives, both giving and receiving ministry. They are an essential and integral part of the St. Peter’s community. The nurture and spiritual growth of children and youth involve the family, the church and the wider community. Christian formation that is engaging, creative and welcoming fosters a deeper relationship with God, helps them connect their story to the larger Christian story and inspires service to the world in God’s name.

Children's Eucharist

Although St. Peter’s welcomes children at all times, a special Eucharist for young children and their families takes place at 9 a.m. every Sunday in St. Peter's School. This special service is specifically designed to nurture children’s spiritual formation and growth through singing, stories and communion.

Church School

Our Sunday morning Church School begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 10:45 a.m. during the school year, enabling children to worship with their parents at either the 9 or 11 o'clock service. Parents are welcome to join their children.

Ours is a growing parish. To meet parishioners’ needs, Sunday Church School has two vibrant children’s classes:

• Children aged 3 through kindergarten meet for Godly Play in the classroom attached to the nursery in St. Peter’s School. Godly Play is a Montessori based approach to church school in which children hear the great stories of faith and enter into them through play.

• Children in grades 1-4 and 5-6 meet in adjoining classrooms on the first floor of St. Peter’s School and use the Workshop Rotation Model (WoRM), an experiential approach to learning in which children hear the story then experience it through different age appropriate activities.

Church school is on break for the summer.  It will resume September 19.

St. Peter’s provides qualified nursery care during Church School and Sunday service hours. Ample parking is available in the church lot located at Third & Lombard Streets.

Bible Stories in the Tower

During the sermon at the 11 a.m. service, children in grades 4 and below are invited to share Bible Stories in our cozy Tower Room, and rejoin their parents for Eucharist.
