Music at St. Peter’s Church opens hearts and minds to the transforming power of Christ’s love. We value music as a dynamic spiritual force that enriches the lives of parishioners and visitors alike. We nurture the talents of our musicians of all ages, we reach through the universal language of music to our neighborhood and the broader community, and we welcome all to sing, play, and enjoy making music to the glory of God.
St. Peter’s has the largest, liveliest, and most comprehensive children’s choir ministry in Philadelphia, offering a superlative music education to area boys and girls. Our adult choir is composed of professional and dedicated volunteer singers (including teenagers) who enjoy making great music together.
Our choirs are recognized locally, nationally, and internationally. We recently performed for the Conference of the Midwestern and Southeastern Divisions of the Historical Keyboard Association, were invited to perform at the Eastern Division Convention of the American Choral Director’s Association, and, in August 2010, will be Choir–in–Residence at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, England.
There are always openings for new children (as young as first grade), adolescents, and adults in our choirs. See the children’s choirs or adult choir pages for more information. Through this website, you can also learn about our directors, our magnificent E.M. Skinner organ, and hear audio samples of our musicians at work.
