St. Peter’s Food Cupboard
St. Peter's Food Cupboard has provided food for local families in need since 1987. We distribute food, by an open choice system, to around 160 households weekly at 313 Pine Street on Saturday mornings from 8–10 a.m. A translator is available for our Chinese-speaking clients.
The Food Cupboard is managed by more than 100 volunteers from the church, the neighborhood and the wider community. Volunteers of any age are always welcome-some jobs require heavy lifting but some do not.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Organizing food for distribution (Thursday evenings at 5pm)
- Distributing food (Saturday mornings at 7:45 am)
- Participating in the Walk Against Hunger each April
- Donating food or funds
- Sorting cans at Thanksgiving
- Interpreting for clients (Cantonese speakers)
For more information or to volunteer contact Kat Dunne at firstname.lastname@example.org or Claire Nevin-Field at Nevinemail@example.com
The Food Cupboard is a United Way Agency. Our donor number is 5490.
Wanted: Your Plastic Bags!
If you have plastic produce or food storage bags, please bring them to St. Peter's for use by our Food Cupboard clients. Each year we spend close to $1000 on plastic bags for bagging produce. Your bags will help us spend that money on food instead. Thanks!
