Bring your mobile device to church on June 29 for Social Media Sunday, a nationwide effort to encourage people of faith to share the gospel and be the church online. St. Peter’s Church will be live tweeting and posting to Facebook during the children’s service and the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services.
How can you participate?
If you don’t already follow St. Peter’s Church on social media, you can get ready by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter. On Social Media Sunday, we encourage everyone to bring their mobile devices to church. Comment, like and share the posts on St. Peter’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Take a selfie of yourself at church…share the sermon…check in on FourSquare. Use the hashtags #stpetersphila and #Episcopal to share Social Media Sunday participation in Episcopal churches nationwide.
Why are we doing this?
Social Media Sunday is an effort spearheaded by Episcopal churches in Connecticut and Missouri. The goal is to help people of faith get beyond their fear of using digital media and understand that these are effective tools for inviting others, showing care and concern for people, and telling friends about our church and showing them Jesus. Hundreds of people follow St. Peter’s Church on social media…if we all share content on one day, we can potentially reach thousands of people.
Can’t make it to church on June 29? You can follow along and share posts on Facebook and Twitter remotely from wherever you are.
