This year the Adult Education Committee is offering an alternative way of joining together with your St. Peter’s community during Lent. “Between Midnight and Dawn” is a handbook of reflections for Lent, Holy Week, and Eastertide. It offers brief passages of classic and contemporary literature, as well as scripture and prayers, in a week-by-week devotional guide. As its editor, Sarah Arthur, writes in her introduction, the weeks leading toward Easter can be a dark time. “It’s a journey we make alone, yet not alone, surrounded as we are by those who have caught a glimpse of sunrise.”
We need one another. So if you cannot join the physical St. Peter’s community on Wednesday evenings during Lent or just want some companionship for the journey, we encourage you to join a group of us who will be praying and reading together from this guide. You can order the book online or find it at Head House Books (where we’ve placed a special order).
On Sunday, February 28, those who are using Between Midnight and Dawn to accompany their Lenten observance are invited to gather at 12:30 p.m. for conversation about how these texts are shaping and guiding the journey.
