CHURCH LIFE
In addition to our Sunday services, special services, weekday prayer, and ministry groups, we gather as an entire church community many times each year for fun and fellowship. Please check our calendar for specific dates and times for these events.
Coffee Hour
Join us after the worship service every Sunday for coffee and snacks. Weather permitting, the coffee hour is held outdoors in St. Peter’s Way adjacent to the Parish House at 313 Pine Street. In case of rain, the coffee hour moves into the parlor of the Parish House.
Shrove Pancake Breakfast
As we prepare for Lent, we gather in the Parish House for a delicious pancake breakfast. This breakfast is prepared and organized by the children & youth of St. Peter’s.
Sundae Sunday
In the beginning of June we gather outdoors for ice cream sundaes to celebrate the start of summer.
Drag Queen Story Time
As part of our Pride Month celebration, St. Peter’s welcomes a Drag Queen to a worship service in June, part of our commitment to teaching the next generation about diversity, self love, creativity, and acceptance.
Summer Concerts
Each year the church sponsors outdoor community concerts with live music. These evening concerts are open to the public, and neighbors and friends are invited to enjoy live jazz, folk-rock, or international music in our beautiful churchyard.
Welcome Back Picnic
In early September the church organizes a potluck picnic in the churchyard. Parishioners are invited to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
Blessing of the Animals
Every October we celebrate the feast day of the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis of Assisi. On this Sunday, dogs, cats, and pets of all kinds are invited to attend the worship service with their humans and receive a blessing.
Hymn Sing & Church Greening
During Advent, we gather together to decorate the church for Christmas – hang wreaths, put out poinsettias, and decorate the tree. We also have a Christmas Hymn Sing, an informal time to sing some beloved hymns with the St. Peter’s Choir, hear a few biblical readings about the coming Christ child, and enjoy time together.
Annual Meetings
Twice a year, we meet together for refreshments and fellowship. We discuss the past year’s accomplishments, thank parishioners for their support, and discuss our plans for the future.
