Spotlight on Food Insecurity
Spotlight on Food Insecurity
March 30 @ 10:00 am - 10:50 am

During this Lenten season, St. Peter’s Church is shining a spotlight on food insecurity and diving deeper into understanding this complex issue that stems from poverty and systemic racism. In March, we will welcome guest speakers to share their expertise at the 10 AM hour. We hope you will join us for one or all of these programs, to gain a better understanding of this issue and how we can make a difference.
- March 16: Glenn Bergman, former executive director of Philabundance, will outline the landscape of the food insecurity support system in Philadelphia. What has worked and what hasn’t? What are ideas to address this problem in the future?
- March 23: Anne Rice Burgess, CEO of Episcopal Community Services (ECS), and Kyle Evans, ECS Chaplain, will speak about their organization’s health and wellness initiatives, including Mission, Meals & Market, an open choice pantry in West Philadelphia.
- March 30: Valerie Erwin, program director of Farm to Families at St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, will discuss the impact of food insecurity on the health and development of children.
