It is with great joy that we announce the Rev. Laurie Jean Wurm has accepted the call to become the 22nd Rector of St. Peter’s Church. Rev. Laurie will officially begin her ministry with us on August 5.
The St. Peter’s Search Committee recommended Rev. Laurie after a thorough search process. In coordination with the diocese, we reviewed many applications and conducted in-person interviews with top candidates. Members of the Search Committee were drawn to Rev. Laurie’s wealth of experience, dynamic preaching, humor, collaborative leadership style, and passion for outreach and community organizing. The St. Peter’s Vestry unanimously and enthusiastically voted to approve and call Rev. Laurie.
Rev. Laurie comes to St. Peter’s by way of Grace Church Van Vorst in Jersey City where she has been rector since 2013. She brings a deep commitment to pastoral care, teaching, and outreach. Her vision for mutual ministry aligns beautifully with the pillars and aims expressed in our Parish Profile. We are confident that her leadership will inspire and guide us as we continue to grow in faith and service.
I had the privilege of being Laurie’s teacher for several years at the Friends School in Mullica Hill NJ. She was, and still is one of most loving, happy, energetic person I’ve known. Luck for Saint Peter’s Church! Dot Maggio
